Yam Properties & Patronscan
The Goal.
To create a safer, more welcoming environment by improving access control, reducing repeat incidents, and strengthening collaboration across tenants and public safety partners.
About the Client.
YAM Properties is an industry leader in destination-driven real estate, known for setting the standard in innovation, safety, and community-centered development.
The company owns and manages Westgate Entertainment District, a premier West Valley destination where dining, nightlife, retail, live entertainment, professional sports, and community events converge. Westgate Entertainment District is a 624,719 square foot outdoor lifestyle center in the heart of Glendale, Arizona.
Meet Gabe, the Director of Security at YAM Properties.
With a background in law enforcement and security, Gabe fully encompasses security through collaboration and stakeholder engagement. This approach continues to keep Westgate Entertainment District in a thriving state, welcoming everyone safely and securely.
As a thoughtfully designed, walkable outdoor lifestyle district in Arizona, Westgate is home to more than 70 restaurants, retailers, offices, and entertainment venues - creating a vibrant, connected environment that attracts millions of visitors each year.
The Challenges.
Westgate Entertainment District sits at the heart of the city where large crowds gather, nightlife moments are joyous, and high-volume seasonal events occur. But greater crowds can also mean higher risk.
Access Management:
Like many large properties, Westgate has an incident process in place. But managing a growing list becomes difficult when it relies on manual logs and memory.
Mitigating Risks:
In Gabe’s role, “every day is different” and security priorities range from relationship building with the facility operators, to access control for each venue, and from incident response to investigation support.
Protected & Welcomed:
For Gabe and his team, safety isn’t only about responding to incidents. It’s about being proactive and preventing them before they occur, giving staff and guests peace-of-mind.
As Gabe put it, “When you’re looking at 500+ people in an incident or trespass log, it’s not realistic to remember everyone’s face, or train new staff on all potential issues that happened in the past and present.”
