Patronscan Q4 Product Update: Web Admin 2.0, Enhanced Fake ID Detection, Offline Mode Improvements, and More

Written by Patronscan | Apr 9, 2026 3:50:36 PM

At Patronscan, every quarter is an opportunity to make our platform faster, smarter, and more reliable for the operators and venues that depend on it. Q4 was no exception.

This update covers everything our team shipped in Q4, from a major milestone in our Web Admin redesign to new third-party validation integrations, a significantly more resilient offline mode, and ongoing improvements to our OCR and Fake ID detection capabilities.

TLDR:

  • Web Admin 2.0 has reached feature completeness and is ready to become the default experience
  • Fake ID Detection with Machine Learning and AI Enhanced Detection capabilities is now running in production across Canadian provinces in shadow mode
  • Improved Offline Mode keeps Patronscan running at enhanced levels during server outages, with automatic sync on reconnection
  • Third-Party Validation introduces optional cross-referencing against external data sources
  • New configurable bypass hours feature for retail partners to manage access control during peak traffic periods
  • Ongoing OCR and Fake ID template improvements across all supported regions

Web Admin 2.0 - Feature Completeness Reached

This is a milestone we have been working toward for some time, and we are proud to announce that Web Admin 2.0 has reached feature completeness in its new design.

The redesigned admin experience now covers all core modules:

  • Members — full member management within the new interface
  • Guest List — streamlined guest list management
  • Financials — complete financial reporting and visibility
  • Scan History — real-time scans covered, with full access to scan logs and history
  • Dashboard — a new landing page that contains summarized data for your venues
  • Locations & Devices — revamped L&D portal for managing devices at different venues
  • My Account — account settings and profile management
  • Alerts — notification and alert configuration
  • Password Reset — self-serve password reset, one of the most requested additions from our clients

With all modules complete, we are now ready to transition Web Admin 2.0 to the default experience. The new design is cleaner, faster, and built to scale with the needs of modern multi-location operators. Existing users will find their workflows familiar but meaningfully improved.

Reverse Templates Fake ID Detection - Now Live in Shadow Mode

Our Fake ID Detection with Machine Learning and AI Enhanced Detection capability is now running in production across Canadian provinces in beta mode.

In beta, the system is actively processing scans and generating detection results in the background, without any impact on the client-facing scan experience. This approach allows us to validate performance, refine accuracy, and build confidence in the results before surfacing them directly to operators.

Early results have been strong. This represents a meaningful advancement in our ability to detect fraudulent identification documents, and we look forward to sharing more as this rolls out further.

Improved Offline Mode - Resilience Built In

We have made significant improvements to how Patronscan handles connectivity disruptions, and the result is a meaningfully more resilient experience for operators in any environment.

Here is what has changed:

  • On startup, the system can function normally regardless of server status at launch.
  • During operation, if the server goes down while Patronscan is already running, the system automatically switches to offline mode in under 10 seconds. There is no manual intervention required and no interruption to scanning operations.
  • On reconnection, once the server connection is restored, Patronscan automatically syncs all results accumulated during the offline period. Nothing is lost.

For high-volume venues and operators in environments where connectivity can be unpredictable, this update provides meaningful peace of mind. The door keeps moving no matter what is happening on the network.

Third-Party Validation - New Optional Data Integrations

We are introducing Third-Party Validation, a new optional feature that allows scan data to be cross-referenced against external data sources at the point of entry. This feature is configurable per location, giving operators full control over which data sources are active and where.

The new integrations available in Q4 include:

  • Address Validation
  • Interpol Notices API
  • Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC)

All integrations are optional, modular, and configurable at the location level. Operators can enable data sources relevant to their regulatory requirements and operational context without impacting the core scan experience.

Configurable Bypass Hours - New Access Control Flexibility for Retail Partners

We have introduced a new configurable bypass hours feature for retail partners that operate ID-gated access controls on locked or age-restricted products and locations.

This feature allows fridge doors or access-controlled areas to unlock automatically during pre-configured hours, without requiring an ID scan. Operators can define the specific hours during which bypass is active, giving locations the flexibility to manage peak traffic periods more efficiently while maintaining ID verification requirements outside of those windows.

This update was developed in response to real operational feedback from a retail partner and reflects our commitment to building solutions that work with how our clients operate.

Ongoing OCR & Fake ID Template Updates

Our commitment to accuracy is ongoing, and our team continues to invest in the performance of our OCR and Fake ID detection templates every quarter.

In Q4, this included:

  • Reviewing and improving OCR templates identified through real-world scan data analysis
  • Developing and refining Fake ID detection algorithms to improve identification of fraudulent documents across all supported regions
  • Continued expansion of template coverage to support new and updated ID formats

These improvements happen continuously in the background and directly impact the reliability of every scan processed through the Patronscan platform.

What This Means for Our Clients

Q4 represents a quarter of meaningful advancement across every layer of the Patronscan platform, from the operator-facing admin experience to the core scanning engine and the intelligence layer behind it.

Each of these updates was shaped by real-world feedback, operational challenges, and our ongoing commitment to helping venues operate more confidently, efficiently, and safely.

If you have questions about any of these features or would like to learn more about enabling new capabilities at your location, our team is ready to help.
